Prologis Acquires 8,000 Square Metres at Interporto Bologna
MILAN (7 December 2015) – Prologis, Inc., the global leader in industrial real estate, today announced that Prologis European Properties Fund II (PEPF II) has acquired an 8,000 square metre facility at Interporto Bologna, one of the largest intermodal logistics locations in Europe, from Sifte Berti. The acquisition adds to the existing 122,500 square metres that the fund acquire in a separate transaction earlier in 2015.
The building is occupied by Sifte Berti, a leading Italian supplier of international transport, domestic distribution and logistics services, and by Palletways, Europe’s largest provider of express palletised distribution services.
The acquisition increases the size of Prologis’ portfolio at Interporto Bologna to 13 buildings. Built in 2005, the facility was developed for parcel courier services and is equipped with a temperature-controlled room for storing medication for distribution to drugstores in the Bologna area.
“This acquisition expands our presence at Interporto Bologna, a location of prime importance for logistics and transport in Italy,” said Sandro Innocenti, senior vice president, country manager, Prologis Italy. “Prologis also has the option to expand the facility by 100,000 square metres.”
Interporto Bologna is north of Bologna near the municipalities of Bentivoglio and San Giorgio in Piano. It is 2 kilometres from the A13, which connects Bologna and Padua. It benefits from proximity to national and European cargo transport routes.
Prologis owns and manages approximately 957,000 square metres of distribution space in Italy as of September 30, 2015. Its logistics parks are located in the Milan area (Paullo, Lodi, Novara, Piacenza, Castel San Giovanni, Cornaredo, Arena Po, Cortemaggiore), Pavia (Siziano), Turin (Trofarello, Settimo Torinese), Bologna (Interporto, Castel San Pietro), Padua and Rome.
