New BTS building for Torello in Piacenza

The new BTS building executed for the Torello group at Prologis Park Piacenza is now fully operational. This building, the third one we have built for the Campania-based company operating in the trucking, logistics and distribution services sector, is further proof of the relationship of trust that we establish with our clients, with the objective of creating value for their business.

“In Prologis we have found a competent and reliable partner thanks to whom we have consolidated our presence in Piacenza, a nerve centre for north-south connections. The new modern logistics platform, built by Prologis to our specific requirements, allows us to increase our competitiveness further by expanding the services offered to customers who need to handle goods under controlled temperatures. By virtue of the vast yards that we have prepared over an area of no less than 20,000 m2, we can accommodate a large number of vehicles in complete safety, thereby increasing the speed with which we move goods”, commented Umberto Torello, the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

“The building also offers us an opportunity to pursue our sustainability goals, on account of the LED lighting of the forecourts and warehouses, the 202 kWp photovoltaic system, the numerous charging stations for electric cars and, above all, the LEED® Silver and ISO 14001 certification. Consumption is managed via an intelligent Smart Meter system, which can be used and monitored remotely through a Building Management System (BMS). This allows us to keep the building’s energy parameters under constant control”.

The DC9 built by Prologis is a Class A modern and functional building, which occupies a surface area of approximately 9,000 m2, of which 600 m2 are allocated to offices, inserted into a total area of approximately 43,000 m2. The building is used by Torello for cross-docking activities, with 73 loading bays for heavy vehicles and the capacity to store 12,000 pallets of dry and fresh goods in 4,000 m2 of refrigerated cells.

We have also paid great attention to security, both with regard to access, guaranteed by a double control system and the provision for a control guard, and to fire prevention, which is ensured by smoke detection systems and a fire-fighting system that includes a ring of internal and external hydrants, connected to a pumping station with an 80 m3 water reservoir.
