Prologis recently joined the PMI Day initiative promoted by the Confindustria Piacenza and Comitato Piccola Industria to bring the world of school and business closer together.

This initiative is only possible due to the collaboration between industry associations, schools, families and companies associated with Confindustria, which this year has been extended to the whole of Italy. The objectives are: to introduce young people to jobs, trades and sectors with which they may not yet have had any contact; to help them to orient themselves for the future and to plant the first seeds within companies for ensuring a better understanding of the next generation of talent.

In collaboration with our client, Medline Europe, which was pleased to accept our invitation to participate in the initiative, we thus welcomed eighth grade pupils from the Italo Calvino school in Piacenza, opening the doors of Prologis Park Piacenza to them. This was an opportunity to familiarise the pupils with the processes behind the finished products which arrive directly at their homes or which they find in shops, how product distribution is organised and what a logistics centre is, as well as to tell them about the role played by companies involved in the logistics sector, in particular, Prologis and Medline Europe.

The pupils were particularly impressed by the technologies present within the building and by the extent of the spaces. They were also able to see the machinery at work and meet the people working at Medline Europe and Prologis Italia, establishing a fruitful dialogue with them.

“We are particularly pleased to have joined this initiative, involving our customer Medline Europe. This was an excellent opportunity to bring the worlds of education and business closer together and to help young people to orient themselves for the future. By virtue of these initiatives, we not only make contact with new generations, but we also explain to them what logistics is today and why it plays such an important role in all of our lives”, commented Margaryta Hnatenko, Prologis Real Estate & Customer Experience Manager, who, together with Giusy Pafundo, Prologis Real Estate & Customer Experience Coordinator, managed the open day for the pupils.
